On 12 May 2026, Liliana Beniuc, PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor and Coordinating Researcher at the Institute of Legal, Political and Sociological Research of Moldova State University, contributed to the organisation and proceedings of the National Scientific Conference with International Participation “The Republic of Moldova in the Context of Its European Path and Regional Security”. Her contribution combined membership of the organising committee with a presentation of the Jean Monnet Chair project “EU’s role in the emerging international system” (EUREIS), which she coordinates.
Held in Chișinău in a hybrid format, the conference marked Europe Day and the 80th anniversary of Moldova State University. It continued the tradition of scholarly and applied research events dedicated to Europe Day, reaching its twentieth edition.
As a member of the organising committee, Liliana Beniuc worked alongside colleagues from the partner institutions to help prepare the conference. Her involvement ensured that EUREIS was represented both in the organisation of the event and in its programme, in which she delivered a presentation of the Jean Monnet Chair. This contribution gave participants an opportunity to learn about the project devoted to studying the European Union’s role in the emerging international system.
The inclusion of EUREIS in the conference connected the project’s subject matter with researchers’ concerns about Moldova’s European path and regional security. The programme featured research presentations and four panels addressing the political, social and philosophical, legal, and geopolitical dimensions of European integration. Topics included institutional reform, human security, societal resilience, security and defence cooperation with the European Union, as well as infrastructure and healthcare systems.
The event was organised by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, through its Section of Social, Economic, Humanistic Sciences and Arts; Moldova State University; the Institute of Legal, Political and Sociological Research; the Institute of History; the Centre for Industry and Services Economics of the Romanian Academy’s “Costin C. Kirițescu” National Institute for Economic Research; and the EUREIS Jean Monnet Chair.
The conference formed part of the implementation of EUREIS and the research subprogramme “The National Security of the Republic of Moldova in the Context of Accession to the European Union: Legal, Political Science and Sociological Approaches”. Through her organisational contribution and project presentation, Liliana Beniuc supported the dissemination of EUREIS within the academic community and dialogue between researchers from the Republic of Moldova and Romania on European integration.
