RomânăOn 24 April 2024, at 10:00 a.m., the round table “The European Union’s Role in Addressing Global Challenges” took place in Room 119, Building 2 of Moldova State University (MSU), in accordance with the University’s Calendar of Scientific Events for 2024.
The round table was organised as part of the implementation of the Jean Monnet Chair project “EU’s Role in the Emerging International System” (EUREIS), No. 101126798, funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency.
The official guests attending the round table included Daniela MORARI, Ambassador and Head of the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union; Rodica CRUDU, State Secretary of the Government of the Republic of Moldova; Iulian GROZA, Executive Director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms and member of the Supreme Security Council; Georgeta STEPANOV, Vice-Rector for Research at MSU, Dr habil. in Communication Sciences and Professor; Victor JUC, Director of the Institute of Legal, Political and Sociological Research at MSU, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Dr habil. in Political Science, Professor and member of the EUREIS Jean Monnet Chair project team; and Lilia GRIBINCEA, Head of the Department of International and European Law, Faculty of Law, MSU, PhD in Law and Associate Professor.
The round table will be moderated by Liliana BENIUC, Coordinator of the EUREIS Jean Monnet Chair project, PhD in Political Science and Associate Professor in the Department of International Relations, Faculty of International Relations, Political and Administrative Sciences, MSU.
The discussions addressed the development of cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova; the significance of the Republic of Moldova’s EU candidate status as an important stage in the accession process; the specific features of the EU’s cooperation with the United Nations, NATO, the Council of Europe, China and the countries of the South Caucasus; the Common Foreign and Security Policy; and EU asylum policy and the regulation of migration.
Presentations were delivered by undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students from higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova. The round table proceedings were published in a dedicated volume.
